Amsterdam Science Park is the European Hub for Digital Innovation and Sustainability. At CWI they focus on the application in society in addition to the research. Prof. dr. Rob van der Mei tells us about the models and methods they developed at the spin-off company Stokhos to make ambulances arrive on time more often. This is one of the great examples of how the knowledge of this institute can be used for applications in everyday life. Other focus areas at his department at CWI include predictive policing, management of road traffic, modeling and scalability analysis of ICT systems, logistics, grid computing, revenue management, military operations research, sensor networks, call centers, queueing theory and data analytics.
