Responsible AI is created together

How can you develop AI that avoids discrimination and high energy consumption, while benefiting society? A large-scale national AI initiative at UvA’s Informatics Institute is exploring this question. This initiative, led by the Institute for AI (ICAI), collaborates with companies and (semi-)government institutions to create responsible AI systems. ICAI operates 49 labs, where knowledge institutions, businesses, governments, and non-profits join forces to advance responsible AI and attract talent to solve relevant societal issues. ICAI focuses on translating cutting-edge AI research into real-world applications that address societal challenges. Through partnerships, they tackle issues like bias reduction, energy efficiency, and social impact.
