Startup village to be built at Science Park

ACE Venture Lab helps science and high-tech start-ups grow – and it’s so successful that it now needs to expand. Its new ‘start-up village’, located next to the UvA’s Faculty of Science, will soon open its doors to approximately 50 budding companies. An imaginative development based on shipping containers, it has been designed by young Amsterdam architect Julius Taminiau and will include community and event spaces as well as offices – an atmospheric new landmark for Amsterdam Science Park.

“The village will further our mission to bring science and business together,” explains ACE Venture Lab founder Erik Boer. “Our aim is to grow great companies there, able to influence the world in a positive way.” Registration starts at the end of April, and the village will open during the summer – by which time it will have an official name. “We’re open to suggestions,” says Erik Boer. “So if you have an idea for a catchy name, we want to hear about it.”
