Spark of inspiration: lightning internship at Amsterdam Science Park

Amsterdam Science Park eagerly welcomes children from College de Meer for an inspiring event: a lightning internship. Initiated by JINC, and organized together with Matrix Innovation Center, this internship aims to provide equal opportunities for children aged between 8 and 16, particularly those from socio-economically challenged neighborhoods.

Together with JINC, we at Amsterdam Science Park are uniting to introduce youth (and upcoming talent) to the exciting developments in innovation and sustainability at our park. We find it important to strengthen outreach activities in relation to our neighborhood, alongside several community members. It’s part of our commitment to ensure that the park remains accessible to all, igniting enthusiasm in these children for future career opportunities across various sectors.

During the lightning internship, students will enjoy a guided company visit led by their teacher. The program features an introduction to the company and its professions, a tour, and a hands-on session where students can actively participate. This approach broadens their horizons and exposes them to diverse professions.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our community members Skytree, Confocal, Avantium, BIT, KplusV, the UvA Makerspace, and Matrix Innovation Center, for their generous support, making it possible to offer this invaluable experience to 70 children!
